Biography & Research:
Dr. Ben Gu is the head of the Innate Phagocytosis Laboratory, an independent lab residing in Jumar Bioincubator. He was graduated from Shanghai Medical University (now is known as the Medical School of Fudan University), one of the top medical universities in China. He obtained his Master and PhD degree from University of Sydney in 2000 and 2003, respectively, during which he was awarded as “Young Investigator of the Year” in 2002 and Sesquie Fellowship in 2004. Dr Gu joined the Florey Institute in 2010, and obtained the Future Fellowship in 2012, established his own lab, focusing on his “Innate Phagocytosis” theory, which is now applied in the early diagnosis and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease (AD), age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and multiple sclerosis (MS).
