Biography & Research:
Prof. Michal Linial is a professor of bioinformatics, molecular biology, and cellular biology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI). She earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology from HUJI in 1986 and completed her postdoctoral training in molecular and cellular neuroscience at Stanford University, USA. In 1989, she joined the faculty of HUJI in the Department of Biological Chemistry. From 2012 to 2018, she served as Director of the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) in Jerusalem.
Her research integrates large-scale technologies and data science—including proteomics, genomics, and systems biology—to uncover design principles underlying human health and disease.
