Biography & Research:
Dr. Wei Chen is the Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou, China. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Brain Science (Fudan University), and Key Laboratory of Medical Neurobiology of Chinese Ministry of Health. Dr. Wei Chen is the vice director of Group of senile psychiatry Chinese Society of Psychiatry, and Standing Committee Member of Alzheimer’s Disease Chinese (ADC).
Dr. Wei Chen is invited as an editor of multiple journals, such as ‘Chinese Journal of Psychiatry’ and ‘Shanghai Archives of Psychiatry’.
Dr. Wei Chen focuses on the diagnosis and intervention in the field of cognitive and affective disorders, especially Alzheimer’s disease,mild cognitive impairment and major depressive disorder (MDD). He has compiled the Screening Scale for Mild Cognitive Impairment (sMCI) and won the award for the national patent (No.201010508406.2). sMCI has been used for early screening of the people at high risk for dementia. He studies potential objective biological markers to predict the outcome of pharmacological therapy in MDD, using a variety of technical means, such as immune index, skin sympathetic response, sleep electroencephalogram and functional Magnetic Resonance Image (f-MRI). He also found the characteristics of regional coherence in Alzheimer’s disease patients with depressive symptoms based on resting-state f-MRI.
