Biography & Research:
Her current field of interest is the role played by mitochondrial metabolic competence and synaptic plasticity during physiological aging and age-related pathologies. Recently, her attention has been focalised on "anti-aging" approaches such as physical exercise, dietetic protocols and cognitive stimulation. Finally, she has been seeking the mechanisms involved in the formation of long-term declarative memory, in particular the identification of the possible cellular substrates implicated in the cognitive impairment and in the marked inter-individual differences typically observed among elderly.
